Weigh In - 10/10

Woo-hoo! I'm down 2 pounds!

This week has been especially challenging. Hubby's entire family came to our house for dinner Saturday and it was Homecoming at our church on Sunday. Homecoming. At a church in the South. There was ham, fried chicken, and an assortment of vegetables in casserole form. Not to mention 2 tables covered in desserts.

So, I had to come up with a plan: I brought green beans, broccoli casserole, corn casserole, and whole grain rice. I knew I could eat my side dishes and stay on plan. Then, I had one or two tiny pieces of turkey. For dessert, I had 2 bites of what was on hubby's plate. I can't always change my circumstances, so I just have to come up with a plan for where I am.

This weekend will be my most challenging yet. Frankly, I can get a little anxious just thinking about it!

Hubby and I are going out of town for our anniversary. (yeah!) We're having dinner at a Murder Mystery Dinner house one night - food: buffet of Italian food! What to do?? The rest of the time we'll be hiking and walking around some national parks, but, I do worry about meals and snacks. I'm going to bring some fruit and 100 cal packs for snacks, but when we're eating at local places, I won't really know if there's any healthy options until we're inside looking at the menu.

So, a week in advance, I am worrying about next week's weigh in. Well, that and I'll be retaining water at that time, also. Good times!!

Any traveling tips you'd like to share?

I hope you had a good week!

Congratulation on staying the same with all that temptation!!

I will try this again! I just posted a comment and it got eaten!

Anyway...
Italian food is okay if you stay away from the pasta!!!!

No seriously, pair the meat and marinara sauce with any veggie and you have a healthy meal!

And as far as eating out, if you like salad and veggies it should be no problem. Ask them for the dressing on the side though. That stuff is laden with calories! You probably can ask for a veggie plate at just about any sit down restaurant you go to, add a piece of grilled chicken any you have a meal!

The only other advice I can give you is to eat slowly! This allows your stomach to communicate when it's full to your brain. (No, I'm not crazy, I've just done this many times before!)

Congrats on your weight loss so far! Can't wait till I'm that far in the game!

Blessings!

"I can't always change my circumstances, so I just have to come up with a plan for where I am." I love this statement.

Congrats on the weight loss.

Good job on this weeks loss! I love something that you said in your blog...

"I can't always change my circumstances, so I just have to come up with a plan for where I am."

That is sooo True! I'm so gonna steal that and post it on my blog! (giving you credit of course!)

Have fun on your trip. The Murder Mysery Dinner sounds like great fun. As far as eating while your gone, if you get stuck someplace where there are not healthy choices then utilize portion control. Order something and then as soon as it comes get a to go box, and box up half of it. It's worked for me in the past. Good luck, and have fun!

Good Morning I know how it is with church functions. I give speeches and devotionals and I am invited often to other churches. All fellowship get togeathers have lots and lots of food. I think maybe southern church going women might cook better than anyone else, JMO. Tomorrow night we have a golden harvesters meeting and there will be lots of food, fried chicken, home made biscuits, peach cobbler, chocolate cake, pecan pie, etc. How am I (I am trying to lose weight)going to resist all of that wonderful looking and delicious smelling high calorie food? I really am going to try not to eat any of it, or maybe just a small piece of cake and a cup of coffee.
I could use prayers.
God bless
